Willie Nelson – 4th of July Picnic 1996 Laminate | Mike Ponczek's Closet
An original Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic 1996 laminate from the personal collection of Showco sound engineer Mike "Dr. Funk" Ponczek.
The 1996 Picnic was held in Luckenbach, Texas — one of the most storied editions of the festival — drawing approximately 12,000 fans during the Years of Luckenbach era (1995–1999). The bill featured a landmark performance by Waylon Jennings singing "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)" on the very ground the song immortalized, alongside Leon Russell, Robert Earl Keen, and Asleep at the Wheel.
This striking red-and-black laminate features a hand-drawn illustration of the iconic picnic scene — food, guitars, and the unmistakable Willie Nelson aesthetic — with "1996" in bold and the handwritten artist signature "JESLN" in the corner. Straight from Mike's personal archive — verified provenance, one of a kind.
Also available: A played/used guitar pick from the same event is listed in the collection. A matching shirt is coming soon.
