Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic 1996 Guitar Pick | Mike Ponczek Collection
Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic 1996 Guitar Pick | Mike Ponczek Collection
A played/used guitar pick from the legendary Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic, 1996 — held in Luckenbach, Texas, from the personal collection of Showco sound engineer Mike "Dr. Funk" Ponczek.
The 1996 Picnic was one of the most memorable in the festival's storied history, drawing approximately 12,000 fans to the iconic Luckenbach grounds during the Years of Luckenbach era (1995–1999). The bill included a landmark performance by Waylon Jennings, who performed "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)" — a song practically written for that very soil — alongside Leon Russell, Robert Earl Keen, and Asleep at the Wheel.
This pick was played and used at the event, making it a genuine artifact from one of the great gatherings of outlaw country royalty. The wear is the point.
