One of the most historically significant credentials in this collection — an original photo ID laminate from the legendary Havana Jam of March 1979, the groundbreaking series of concerts held in Havana, Cuba that brought American rock and jazz artists to perform for Cuban audiences for the first time during the Cold War era. This credential features a photograph of a young Johnny “JW” Roberts, with his name and “SHOWCO” handwritten below, alongside a hand-stamped palm tree and “CUBA” graphic.
The Havana Jam featured artists including Weather Report, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Joel, Stephen Stills, and the CBS jazz and rock ensembles — a once-in-a-generation cultural exchange. SHOWCO provided production support, and JW was there.
