An original signed letter from Bill Graham to Rusty Brutsche, SHOWCO — dated January 19, 1982. From the personal collection of Donnie “DK” Kretzschmar.

Written on Bill Graham Presents letterhead from San Francisco, this letter is Graham’s personal thank-you to Rusty and the SHOWCO crew following the completion of the Rolling Stones 1981 American Tour. In his own words:

“Now that ‘the caper’ is behind us, I want to take a few moments to express my gratitude for the most professional work put out by you and your gang during our mad dashes across the country… That professional input, seemingly beyond the call of duty, went a long way toward making the Rolling Stones tour the success that it was.”

Graham names crew members individually — Jack, Rusty, B.J., Robin, Kirby — and closes with his signature “Cheers.” A primary source document from one of rock history’s greatest promoters, addressed directly to SHOWCO’s founder.
